If you and/or your guest(s) need visas to enter China, please read through the information below.
For Class of 2023 Graduates
If you still have your Residence Permit in your passport, please send a copy of the relevant page to the International Student Services (ISS) team, who can help you check if it is still valid to enter China.
If you are not on the Duke Kunshan campus during the spring semester and do not hold the valid Residence Permit, but would like to attend the Commencement Ceremony at DKU, you are potentially eligible for an X2 Visa (for stays of fewer than 180 days). The X2 application typically requires you to produce the original Admission Letter issued by DKU. The documentation requirements are listed here for your reference. Please check the official website of your local Chinese Embassy/Consulate for the latest X2 Visa requirements. If you are eligible for the X2 Visa and decide to travel for commencement, please contact ISS for further information and assistance.
For Class of 2022 Alumni
China resumed the issuance of all types of visas （including tourist visas) starting on March 15. The validity of China visas issued before March 28, 2020, has been restored （including 10-year visas）.
Guest(s) who are non-Chinese citizens, plan to travel to DKU from outside of China and do not hold a valid Chinese visa can apply for a tourist visa.
Please contact or check the website of your local Embassy or Consulate where you and your guest(s) are required to apply for visa to find the comprehensive list of required documents. Feel free to contact us for further questions and we look forward to seeing you in May!
